Day 1: International arrival into Rio de Janeiro

On arrival into Rio de Janeiro you will be met by a local driver who will transfer you in private to the very comfortable Atlantis Copacabana Hotel. Once you have checked into your rooms your guide will come and give you a short briefing on the days ahead. Once the briefing is complete your guide will leave you to relax and enjoy your first night in the city.

Day 2: Free day Rio de Janeiro

Today you will have the day free to explore this exciting city, your guide will be on hand to offer their assistance and they will also be able to arrange any optional tours you may wish to take such as a tour of the city centre or a visit to the wonderful botanical gardens. Your evening will once again be spent in the comfortable Atlantis Copacabana Hotel. (B)

Day 3: Tour of Christ the Redeemer & Sugar Loaf Mountain

Today you will have breakfast at your hotel before you are collected by your guide for the start of your full day tour of Rio de Janeiro. From the hotel you will first take a short driving tour around the city’s landmarks before heading to the base of Corcovado hill. Here you will board the comfortable train that ascends the mountain to where Christ the Redeemer is located. Once the train reaches the top you can use the escalators to reach the base of the statue, from here you will have a stunning panoramic view of the entire city. After some time spent here you will descend the mountain and stop at the bottom for a delicious Brazilian Barbeque lunch. After the lunch you will continue your tour to Pão de Açúcar or Sugar loaf Mountain. This mountain has become an iconic symbol of the city as it sits at the tip of the peninsula of Guanabara Bay. You will take the breathtaking journey using a series of cable cars to the summit. The first car takes you to the top of Urca Hill, 215 meters above sea level. From here you take the second car to the peak of the mountain where an amazing view of the city and the bay await you. After taking some time to enjoy the view you will head back down using the cable cars yet again. At the base of Urca Hill your guide will be waiting to transfer you back to the comfortable Atlantis Copacabana Hotel leaving the rest of the day free at leisure. (B, L)

Day 4: Flight to Foz de Iguazu JJ3188 10:10 – 12:16

Today you will be collected from your hotel and transferred in private to the airport to meet your short flight to Iguazú. On your arrival into the airport you will be met by your local guide who will transfer you in private to the comfortable San Martin Hotel for check in. Once you have checked into your rooms you can relax and begin to enjoy this superb hotel and all the facilities it offers. (B)

Day 5: Tour of Brazilian and Argentine side of Iguazú Falls flight to Lima

Your tour will start in the morning after breakfast, when you are met by your guide at 8am for your first visit to the Brazilian side of the falls. As this is just in front of your hotel you have more time to enjoy the pathway that runs along the length of the falls offering a different aspect to the Argentine side.  Continuing your tour of the falls you will cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge, with its lovely view of the Iguazú Canyon, en route to the Iguazú National Park in Argentina. A visit to the upper and lower walkways allows you a different perspective and more intimate contact with the falls adjoining the rainforest, which is filled with orchids, bromeliads, birds and other wildlife. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the suspended platform at the very brink of the Devil’s Throat, the largest of the waterfalls. After your tour you will collect your luggage from your hotel and transfer to the airport for your international flight to Lima. Your guide will help you get checked in and will wave goodbye as you pass through departures. Arriving into Lima, your driver & guide will meet you at the airport, and transfer you in private to the Faraona Grand hotel for check in. You can then get some rest and prepare for the next leg of your adventure. (B)

Day 6: Free day Lima

Today you will have the entire day free to explore and enjoy Lima “City of Kings” your hotel is well located to explore Miraflores and your guide will be on hand should you wish to arrange any additional services such as a private tour or transfer (local payment). (B)

Day 7: Flight to Arequipa

After breakfast today you will have some time to free to enjoy the pleasant district of Miraflores before your guide meets you at a predetermined time for your transfer to the airport. At the airport your guide will assist you to the departure of your flight to Arequipa. Arequipa is known as the white city due to the volcanic rock used in the construction of its buildings.  On arrival you will be met at the airport and you will be transferred to your comfortable Hotel La Casa de mi Abuela. You will be given a short briefing on your time in Arequipa and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have at this point. The afternoon you are free to explore the many places of interest just ask your guide for a map and enjoy all this city has to offer, all within easy walking distance from your hotel. Tip: if you’re feeling adventurous, do try the Maté de Coca or coca-leaf tea as it is said to help you acclimatise to the altitude. (B)

Day 8: Free day to explore and acclimatise

Now is a good time to rest and take a breath for a further day in the beautiful “white City”, a little time to acclimatise to altitude is useful, before you head off to the high Altiplano. In the morning your guide will come to your hotel and give you a briefing on your days ahead offering her advice and assistance, after the briefing your will have the rest of the day free.  Highlights that you can visit in Arequipa, either independently or during an arranged tour (local payment), included the beautiful Monasterio De Santa Catalina and the nearby museum, which is home to the mummy of Juanita – the Ice Maiden. She was found on the summit of Ampato, a volcano in the region, and is thought to be an Inca sacrifice, chosen at birth and raised with the sole purpose of her sacrifice to the gods in mind (this would have been a great honour), before being marched all the way from Cusco to her final resting place near Arequipa. (B)

Day 9: Colca Canyon small group tour with guide

After breakfast departure is at 7:30 from Arequipa, crossing 160 Km to the town of Chivay, capital of the Province of Caylloma. Leaving behind Arequipa you will enjoy the majestic views of Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes before entering the National Reserve of “Pampa Cañahuas”.  Here you will make a stop to observe the wild Vicuñas in its natural habitat and also see Alpacas which are abundant in this area.  At this point we will be around 3,400 meters above sea level. Continuing to “Pata Wasi”, (Pata=high Wasi=home) an Andean community in the opposite border of the reserve, here it is interesting to see the natural formation of the rocks and a view of the other side of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To prevent altitude sickness we will enjoy an original Andean “Mate de Coca” drink in Sumbay, 3,800 meters above sea level.  Continuing on the road we will pass through “Tocra” over the 4,500 meter high mountains, where we will observe the lakes with migrant birds and we’ll get pictures of the “Antiplano” (highland) with its llamas and Guanacos. Our highest point will be “Pata Pampa” located at 4,820 meters, where we’ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, the Hualca-Hualca, the Mismi) and the “Cordillera de Chila”.  Arriving to the town of Chivay (3,651meters) we continue the short distance to the Hotel Mamayacchi.  After finding our rooms, we will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch (not included).  You are then free to relax and enjoy this quiet scenic setting or visit the thermal baths (take a swimsuit for this).  Meals: Breakfast

Day 10: Chivay – Cruz Del Cóndor – Puno

Today you will take breakfast very early in the morning (around 6:00 a.m.), so we can leave to the famous “Cruz Del Condor” point, as early as possible. Before we approach the “Cruz Del Condor” we will make a stop at the look-out point of “Choquetico”, with its “Tumbas colgantes” (hanging tombs). Also we will visit the town of Maca, an Andean community that experienced an earthquake in November of 1991. Arriving to the “Cruz Del Condor” view point you will wait to see the spectacular sight of the Condors as they climb out of the Canyon on the morning thermals. After taking pictures of the majestic flight of the Condors, we will return to our transportation and will start the drive out of the Colca Canyon back to Chivay where you can have lunch and a rest before continuing to Peru. Rejoining your vehicle you will be crossing the Alta Plano to the town of Puno, set on the banks of the Great Lake Titicaca.  On your late afternoon arrival to Puno you will check into the comfortable Qalasaya Hotel. Once you have settled into your rooms you will be met by your local guide for the duration of time in this area, they will give you a short briefing on your tour and be happy to answer any questions you may have. After the briefing you will have the rest of the evening free to explore the exiting centre of the city. Meals: Breakfast

Day 11: Lake Titicaca full day tour shared vessel

After breakfast today, you will be met once again by your guide who will transfer you to the harbour in Puno where you will board a shared vessel and head out on to the Great Lake Titicaca. The first port of call will be the incredible floating islands of the Uros; here you will see the way these people live on these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining all about the way of life for these people. Their lifestyle has remained the same for hundreds of years with very little influence from modern times, thus preserving many traditions, laws and customs. Skilled crafts are still very important to the inhabitants of Taquile, and the island is famous for its handmade textiles which are regarded amongst the highest-quality handicrafts available. For this reason, you will find that they are higher in price in comparison with other mass-produced handicrafts readily found in other parts of Peru. After exploring you will then have the opportunity to have lunch before re-joining your boat for the return journey back to Puno. You will have the rest of the evening free to relax in your comfortable lodgings. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 12: Tourist coach tour to Cusco

Today you will have an early breakfast at your hotel as your guide will come to collect and transfer you to the coach station for your 06:50 departure with the Inka Express coach service. This coach journey will take you away from Puno and towards Cusco visiting sites of interest along the route known as the Route of the Sun and a buffet lunch will be taken in a restaurant during the day which is included. Arriving into Cusco at approximately 17:20 you will be met at the bus stop by your local guide, after introductions you will be transferred to your comfortable hotel, the Midori Hotel. After settling into your room, you will be given a short briefing by your guide, this will inform you of the plans for the days ahead and will be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Once the briefing is complete your guide will leave you to enjoy the rest of your evening at leisure. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 14: Free day Los Faiques

Today you will have the entire day free to relax in the homestead of Los Faiques. The nearby woods will offer excellent hiking and bird watching and the hospitality of your hosts will make you feel warm and welcome. We are trying to arrange for a local expert bird guide but it will depend on if available given this last minute reservation. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 13: Free day Cusco

Today you are free to further explore the ancient city of Cusco. Declared a UNESCO world heritage in 1983 the city boasts an ancient network of catacombs to explore, a great many varied historical and cultural sites of interest and many of the buildings that stand there today are built on foundations laid by the Incas. You also have the choice of taking one of the many optional tours that operate in the area surrounding Cusco which is also rich in culture and heritage, your guide can assist you in any arrangements that you wish to make (Local payment to guide). Meals: Breakfast

Day 14: Sacred Valley Tour private service

Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley, taken wholly in private, in the comfort of your guide’s own car. On the way you will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best existing examples of Inca stonework, with spectacular views of Cuzco below and far-away snowy peaks. From here we will travel to a variety of sites on the way into the valley, including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small, picturesque village of Pisac. This is the gateway to the Sacred Valley and home of the famous daily Pisac craft market; here you have an opportunity to view the many artisans’ wares on display including; textiles, jewellery and ceramics. Because your tour is in private, there will be ample opportunity to stop to take photographs along the way and to enjoy a leisurely lunch in a local eatery (lunch not included), as recommended by your guide. Arriving into Ollantaytambo, you will take in the spectacular ruins of the fortress with your guide. After your tour you will be transferred to the nearby Samanapaq Hotel where you will check in before enjoying the rest of the afternoon at leisure in this charming hotel. Meals: Breakfast

Day 15: Train to Aguas Calientes

You will enjoy a relaxed start to the day as you first take breakfast at your hotel. Later in the morning you will be transferred to the train station to meet your 11:15 departure to Aguas Calientes arriving at 12:35. The train will take you out of the Sacred Valley and into the mountains offering spectacular views of the countryside. On arrival into Aguas Calientes at you will be met by a representative of your hotel who will escort you to the very comfortable La Cabana Machu Picchu for check in, once you have checked in you will have the rest of the day free to relax and explore the interesting town of Aguas Calientes   Meals: Breakfast

Day 16: Machu Picchu + Return Cuzco

This is an ideal opportunity to take the first transport up to the ruined city of Machu Picchu giving you the chance to witness the spectacular sight of the city appearing like magic through the early morning cloud. On arrival to Machu Picchu you will take a guided tour of the citadel with your professional private local guide, revealing some of the mystery of this amazing site. After your tour you will head to the starting point of the Machu Picchu Mountain climb where you will join the 9am entry, the hike takes approximately four hours to complete and you will be allowed a little extra time in Machu Picchu due to the time it takes. When you are finished you can take the bus to Aguas Calientes where you collect your luggage from your hotel and transfer to the train station to take the 16:12 return train journey to Ollantaytambo.  Upon arrival you will again be met for your transfer back to Cuzco by road, stopping at the Samanapaq hotel to collect your luggage. On arrival back into Cusco you will check into the Midori Hotel.  The evening is free to take in a restaurant and enjoy the Inca Capital. Meals: Breakfast

Day 17: Return to Lima

Today you will have most of the morning free to relax and enjoy your hotel, in the late morning you will be transferred in private to the airport for your short flight back to Lima. On arrival you will be met by your driver who will transfer you in private to the comfortable Faraona Grand hotel for check in. You will then have the rest of the evening free to explore Lima “City of Kings” Meals: Breakfast

Day 18: International Departure

Today you will need to prepare for your international departure. You will be met at the appropriate time by your guide and driver for your transfer to the airport. You will check in and say goodbye to your guide and depart on your international flight. Meals: Breakfast
