Day 1. Arrival in Lima

Upon your arrival in Lima, you will be met by your Peruvian Secrets Tour Controller, who will transfer you to your comfortable choice hotel. Here your guide will give you a short run through of the itinerary, hand you your travel vouchers and answer any questions you might have at this point. Depending on your arrival time your guide will escort you to the main area of interest to change money and take in a local restaurant.

Day 2. The White City - Arequipa

After breakfast you will be met by your guide and transferred to the airport for your short flight to Arequipa. Arequipa is known as the white city due to the volcanic rock used in the construction of its buildings. On arrival into Arequipa you will be transferred to your comfortable Hotel. Here you will enjoy this fine city.

Day 3. The Colca Canyon

Today after breakfast, you will be collected for the start of your tour of the beautiful Colca Canyon. Departure is at 8:00 from Arequipa, crossing 160 kms to the town of Chivay, capital of the Province of Caylloma. Leaving behind Arequipa you will enjoy the majestic views of Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes before entering the National Reserve of "Pampa Cañahuas". Here you will make a stop to observe the wild vicuñas (the most important American camel) in its natural habitat and also see alpacas which are abundant in this area. At this point we will be around 3,400 metres above sea level. Continuing to "Pata Wasi" (Pata=high Wasi=home) an Andean community in the opposite border of the reserve, here it is interesting to see the natural formation of the rocks and a view of the other side of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To prevent altitude sickness we will enjoy an original Andean "Mate de Coca" drink in Sumbay, 3,800 metres above sea level. Continuing on the road we will pass through "Tocra" over the 4,500 metre high mountains, where we will observe the lakes with migrant birds and we’ll get pictures of the "Antiplano" (highland) with its llamas and guanacos. Our highest point will be "Pata Pampa" (Pata=High, Pampa=Land) located at 4,820 metres, where we’ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, the Hualca-Hualca, the Mismi (the source of the Amazon River) and the "Cordillera de Chila". Arriving to the town of Chivay (3,651metres) we continue the short distance to the Hotel. After this, we will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch (local payment). You are then free to relax and enjoy this quiet, scenic setting.

Day 4. Cruz Del Condor & Transfer to Puno

Breakfast very early in the morning (around 6:00 a.m.), so we can leave to the famous "Cruz Del Condor" point, as early as possible. Before we approach the "Cruz Del Condor" we will make a stop at the look-out point of "Choquetico", with its "Tumbas Colgantes" (hanging tombs), and take a look at the Litomaqueta (The terrace model drawn in a rock). Also we will visit the town of Maca, an Andean community that experienced an earthquake in November of 1991. Arriving to the "Cruz Del Condor" view point you will wait to see the spectacular sight of the Condors as they climb out of the Canyon on the morning thermals. After taking pictures of the majestic flight of the Condors, we will return to our transportation and will start the drive out of the Colca Canyon as we cross the Altiplano to the town of Puno set on the banks of the Great Lake Titicaca. On your mid-afternoon arrival to Puno you will check into your comfortable choice hotel, here you will be met by your local guide who will give you a short briefing on your tour and be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The rest of your day is then free to explore the town and catch up on any correspondence as many internet cafes are available.

Day 5. Titicaca - The Great Lake

After breakfast you will be met once again by your guide as she will be accompanying you throughout your day’s tour of Great Lake Titicaca. First you will transfer to the harbour in Puno where you will board a shared-service group vessel and head out on to the lake. The first port of call will be the incredible floating islands of the Uros Indians; here you will see the way these people live on these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining all about the way of life for these people. Their lifestyle has remained the same for hundreds of years with very little influence from modern times, thus preserving many traditions, laws and customs. Skilled crafts are still very important to the inhabitants of Taquile, and the island is famous for its handmade textiles which are regarded amongst the highest-quality handicrafts available. For this reason you will find that they are higher in price in comparison with other mass-produced handicrafts readily found in other parts of Peru. After exploring you will then have the opportunity to have lunch before rejoining your boat for the return journey back to Puno. Your evening is free again at leisure.

Day 6. The Inca Capital of Cuzco

Today you take the journey by tourist bus to Cuzco the Inca capital; this is a full day’s journey but takes in stops on the way at various places of interest. On arrival into Cuzco your guide will meet you and transfer you to your comfortable hotel. After a short briefing on your tour you will be able to enjoy your first evening in this busy city.

Day 7. Free Day

Today you take the journey by tourist bus to Cuzco the Inca capital; this is a full day’s journey but takes in stops on the way at various places of interest.On arrival into Cuzco your guide will meet you and transfer you to your comfortable hotel. After a short briefing on your tour you will be able to enjoy your first evening in this busy city.

Day 8. The Sacred Valley - a unique tour only offered by Peruvian Secrets

Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley taken in private with your guide. On the way you will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best examples of Inca stonework. From here we will travel to a variety of sites including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small village of Pisac a picturesque town which is the gateway to the Sacred Valley. Here you have an opportunity to viewing the many artisans work in the famous market then you will have the opportunity of taking lunch in a local restaurant (local payment). You will continue along the Sacred Valley and check into your comfortable hotel where you can refresh before we rejoin our vehicle to make our last tour to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. Here you will have a guided tour with everything you see explained to you. Returning to your hotel you can relax and take your evening meal in the fine restaurant of this very comfortable and friendly hotel.

Day 9. A train to Aguas Calientes

This morning you will transfer to the train station. Here you will board the wonderful Train to Aguas Calientes which offers great panoramic views as you route takes you through the changing microclimates into the higher reaches of the Amazon, to the small yet lively town of Aguas Calientes. On arrival you will be met by your hotel representative and escorted to the Hotel. Here you will check in to your hotel and have a welcomed opportunity to relax in preparation for the following full day’s visit to Machu Picchu.As well as being the obvious starting point for any visit to Machu Picchu, the town is also famous for its hot springs, (agua = water, caliente = hot), just remember to pack your swimming costume!

Day 10. Machu Picchu & return to Cuzco

This is an ideal opportunity to take the first transport up to the ruined city of Machu Picchu giving you the chance to witness the spectacular sight of appearing like magic through the early morning cloud. In order to maximise your enjoyment from your visit, Peruvian Secrets provides the services of a professional local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place. After your visit you return to Aguas Calientes where you will have time to take your evening meal before you collect your luggage and transfer to the train station to take the return train journey to Poroy. Upon arrival you will again be met for your transfer back to Cuzco by road and check into your Hotel once again. The evening is free to take in a restaurant and enjoy the Inca Capital.

Day 11. Fly to Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata Expedition 4D-3N

Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your short flight to Puerto Maldonado. On arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to the Wasai Maldonado. After a refreshing drink you will make the 4 hours journey up the Tambopata River into the primary rainforest of the Tambopata Reserve Zone with the opportunity to see local communities and wildlife along the banks of the river. You will arrive at the Wasai Tambopata Lodge in the late afternoon. After refreshments you will go on a short introductory night walk into the forest to look for some of the nocturnal creatures, overnight at Wasai Tambopata Lodge.

Day 12. The Macaw clay licks

An early wake call (05:00 am) where you will prepare for your journey up the Tambopata River for approximately one hour and half to the Bahuaja - Sonene National Park. You will see the sunrise on the river as well as opportunity to see capybaras, tapir, jaguar, and deer in the surrounding virgin Amazon rainforest. Arriving to the landing point you will disembark and take the short walk through the forest to our lookout post.Here we provide you with binoculars and refreshments in coffee and biscuits. You will now wait and watch to see one of the greatest spectacles of the rainforest where many bird species gather to eat the life giving clay found on the cliff face. The parrot clay lick is where hundreds of parrots and parakeets enjoy their diet of life giving mineral salts, your guide will explain all you see and really bring the forest and animals to life.You will rejoin our boat to take the return journey to the lodge to have a late breakfast, and free time. After lunch we will enter the verdant jungle on a special trail to observe the Amazon wildlife and enjoy bird watching. We will then enter the territory of peccaries, deer, and other animals, with the possibility to hear or see the tracks of them, or discovering a troop of monkeys travelling through the forest in search of food. Time permitting; we will be able to enjoy a relaxing swim in the cascade of the cat, one of the main attractions of Tambopata.   After evening dinner we can make another trip through the jungle and search for caimans in a river journey by lamp light or you may choose to relax at the lodge surrounded by exotic nocturnal animal sounds.

Day 13. Returning to Puerto Maldonado,

After breakfast we will make the return boat trip to the WASAI Maldonado Lodge, in Puerto Maldonado where you can relax in the hotel.  After lunch we will leave and have a twenty minute journey through the Madre de Dios River to the access trail to Sandoval Lake, a beautiful typical Amazon rainforest oxbow lake. Disembarking you will now take an easy level 5 km walk to the banks of the lake. There we will board our canoe to paddle around the lake, enjoying the beauty of the landscape, observing the Amazon wildlife, enjoy bird watching and also observe different animals like: kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique pre historic looking birds), monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see other animals like giant otter families which live in the lake. We will have the opportunity to observe piranhas eating some pieces of meat and swimming in the lake! Rejoining our boat it is time to begin our return to Puerto Maldonado while enjoying the sunset. After evening dinner we will be able to rest or go around the city on foot or on bicycle. We can enjoy the pool and its cascade surrounded by the Amazon verdant vegetation.

Day 14. Fly back to Lima & Bus to Paracas

Today after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your short flight back to Lima. On arrival you will be met by your guide and driver for your transfer to the local bus station to board your comfortable bus to Paracas. This journey will take 4 hours. On arrival in Paracas you will be met by your guide and transferred you to the stunning and comfortable hotel. After checking in your guide will go through the itinerary and answer any question you may have then you will be free to relax and enjoy the rest of our day.

Day 15. Free day in Paracas

Today your are free to relax in this beautiful town of Paracas, here you will find lots of activities where you can arrange with your local (local payment) excursion to Paracas National Reserve, Tambo Colorado fortress, Dunne Buddy and Sand boarding.

Day 16. Ballestas Island tour

Today you will be collected from your hotel at 7:40 am for your trip to the “Mini Galapagos” to the amazing wildlife reserve of the Ballestas Islands. These densely colonized islands are home to a wide variety of marine life and bird life which can include pelicans, cormorants, gannets, boobies, Humboldt penguins, sea lions and the occasional dolphin!  Returning to the harbour you will rejoin our vehicle to return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free to relax around the pool or walk the beach as you enjoy time to yourselves once again, also you will have lots of optional tours as you can make your own arrangement with your guide who will give you the information of the different tours.

Day 17. Return by bus to Lima

You will be met and transferred to the very comfortable coach for your return journey to Lima. On arrival you will be met by your guide and transfer to your comfortable Hotel. The rest of your day will be free for you to relax and explore this interesting city.

Day 18. International departure flight back home

Today at the appropriate time you will be collected and transferred to the airport for your international flight home. Your guide will bid you farewell and make sure you are checked in correctly before seeing you through to departure.
