From the Coast to the Andes is a fantastic, 16 day tour designed to give you the best possible experiences of the sheer diversity that Peru has on offer. From the mysteries of the Nazca Lines and Machu Picchu to the beauty of the Andes and Lake Titicaca - this tour offers covers it all.

This 16 day tour is designed to include a visit the wildlife sanctuary of the incredible Ballestas Island “the mini Galapagos” a unique marine reserve on the Peruvian coast where you will be able to see hundreds of marine birds and mammals, including sea lions, dolphins and Humboldt penguins. Also you will have the opportunity to fly over the Nazca Lines, a mystery that is still to be explained. Your journey continues into the Peruvian Andes to Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca and of course Machu Picchu where you will discover a land of mystifying contrast.

Day 1. Arrival in Lima

Upon your arrival in Lima, you will be met by your Peruvian Secrets Tour Controller, who will transfer you to your comfortable choice hotel. Here your guide will give you a short run through of the itinerary, hand you your travel vouchers and answer any questions you might have at this point. Depending on your arrival time your guide will escort you to the main area of interest to change money and take in a local restaurant.

Day 2. Coach from Lima to Paracas

Today at the appropriate time you will be transferred to the bus station for your journey by road to the southern town of Paracas.  This journey will take you along the Panamerican Highway to the coastal town of Paracas (4 hours approx). On arrival into Paracas you will be met by your local guide and transfer to your comfortable Hotel.  After checking into your hotel your guide will give a local briefing and be able to answer any question you may have. The remainder of your day is free at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities or walk by the beach to see the sunset.

Day 3. Free Day

Today your are free to relax in this beautiful town of Paracas, here you will find lots of activities which you can arrange with your local (local payment) excursions include tours to Paracas National Reserve, Tambo Colorado fortress, Dunne Buddy and Sand boarding.

Day 4. The Ballestas Islands

Today you will be collected from your hotel at 7:40 am for your trip to the “Mini Galapagos” to the amazing wildlife reserve of the Ballestas Islands. These densely colonized islands are home to a wide variety of marine life and bird life which can include pelicans, cormorants, gannets, boobies, Humboldt penguins, sea lions and the occasional dolphin!  Returning to the harbour you will rejoin our vehicle to return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free to relax or walk the beach as you enjoy time to yourselves once again, also you will have lots of optional tours as you can make your own arrangements with your guide who will give you the information of the different options.

Day 5. Coach to Nazca – Flight over Nazca Lines – Coach to Arequipa

Today at the appropriate time you will be transferred to the bus station for your journey by road to the town of Nazca departing at 10:00 am.  As you travel south along the Pan-American Highway you will leave the city behind and pass through the coastal desert and fertile farm lands. On arrival (approximately 3 hours) you will be met by a local representative and transferred to your comfortable Hotel where you will have a day use room only.  After checking in you will be collected and transferred to the small airport, here you will have time to learn more and view a short film on the lines before you board your plane.  This flight takes approximately forty minutes and will surely raise more questions than answers about these incredible and inexplicable images etched into the desert sands, which can only really be appreciated from the air.  On your return you will have the chance to go into town to take your evening meal. Late evening you will transfer to the bus station to take your overnight coach to Arequipa in the “bus Cama” service offering first class comfort as you travel overnight to the city of Arequipa.

Day 6. Arrive at Arequipa - free day

Arriving early morning into Arequipa your guide will be there to meet you and transfer to your comfortable Hotel. Here you can relax and enjoy a good breakfast in the garden restaurant (breakfast not included). The rest of the day is free for you to relax after the busy start to your holiday. Tip: if you’re feeling adventurous, do try the Maté de Coca or coca-leaf tea as it is said to help you acclimatise to the altitude, it is not entirely unpleasant and tastes a little like green tea! Remember, you can discuss with your guide the places that may be of interest to you during your time in Arequipa and either arrange to take some additional services with the guide such as a city tour (Local payment required) or do your own independent sight-seeing.

Day 7. Tour Colca Canyon 2D/1N tour

After breakfast you will be collected for the start of your tour of the beautiful Colca Canyon.  Departure is at 8:00 am from Arequipa, crossing 160 Km to the town of Chivay, capital of the Province of Caylloma. Leaving behind Arequipa you will enjoy the majestic views of Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu volcanoes before entering the National Reserve of "Pampa Cañahuas".  Here you will make a stop to observe the wild Vicuñas (the most important American camel) in its natural habitat and also see Alpaca’s which are abundant in this area.  At this point we will be around 3,400 meters above sea level. Continuing to "Pata Wasi" (Pata=high Wasi=home) an Andean community in the opposite border of the reserve, here it is interesting to see the natural formation of the rocks and a view of the other side of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To prevent altitude sickness we will enjoy an original Andean "Mate de Coca" drink in Sumbay, 3,800 meters above sea level.  Continuing on the road we will pass through "Tocra" over the 4,500 meter high mountains, where we will observe the lakes with migrant birds and we’ll get pictures of the "Altiplano" (highland) with its llamas and Guanacos. Our highest point will be "Pata Pampa" (Pata=High, Pampa=Land) located at 4,820 meters, where we’ll observe the volcanoes Ampato, Sabancaya, the Hualca-Hualca, the Mismi (the source of the Amazon River) and the "Cordillera de Chila".  Arriving to the town of Chivay (3,651meters) we continue the short distance to your comfortable Hotel (located in the Town of Coporaque or borders villages). After finding your rooms, you will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch (lunch not included).  You are then free to relax and enjoy this quiet scenic setting or join the tour to the thermal baths for an invigorating natural spar.

Day 8. Cruz Del Condor & Transfer to Puno

Breakfast very early in the morning (around 6:00 a.m.), so we can leave to the famous "Cruz Del Condor" point, as early as possible. Before we approach the "Cruz Del Condor" we will make a stop at the look-out point of "Choquetico", with its "Tumbas colgantes" (hanging tombs), and taking a look to the litomaqueta (The terrace model drawn in a rock). Also we will visit the town of Maca, an Andean community that experienced an earthquake in November of 1991. Arriving to the "Cruz Del Condor" view point you will wait to see the spectacular sight of the Condors as they climb out of the Canyon on the morning thermals.   After taking pictures of the majestic flight of the Condors, we will return to our transportation and will start the drive out of the Colca Canyon as we cross the Altiplano to the town of Puno set on the banks of the Great Lake Titicaca.  On your mid to late afternoon arrival to Puno you will check into your comfortable Hotel where you will be met by your local guide who will give you a short briefing on your tour and be happy to answer any questions you may have.  The rest of your day is then free to explore the town and catch up on any correspondence as many internet cafes are available.

Day 9. Lake Titicaca one day tour

After breakfast, in the impressive Mirador restaurant, you will be met once again by your guide who will transfer you to the harbour in Puno where you will board a shared-service group vessel and head out on to the Great Lake Titicaca. The first port of call will be the incredible floating islands of the Uros; here you will see the way these people live on these most unusual islands. From here you continue onto the Island of Taquile where your guide will escort you around explaining all about the way of life for these people. Their lifestyle has remained the same for hundreds of years with very little influence from modern times, thus preserving many traditions, laws and customs. Skilled crafts are still very important to the inhabitants of Taquile, and the island is famous for its handmade textiles which are regarded amongst the highest-quality handicrafts available. For this reason you will find that they are higher in price in comparison with other mass-produced handicrafts readily found in other parts of Peru. After exploring you will then have the opportunity to have lunch before rejoining your boat for the return journey back to Puno. Your evening is free again at leisure.

Day 10. Bus to Cuzco

Today you take the journey by tourist bus to Cuzco the Inca capital, this is a full day’s journey but takes in stops on the way at varies places of interest.  Lunch is provided in a very good restaurant with time to refresh and take a break.  On arrival into Cuzco your guide will meet you and transfer to your comfortable hotel.  After a short briefing on your tour you will be able to enjoy your first evening in this busy city.

Day 11. Free day

Today you can rest from your travels and enjoy this amazing city as there is so much to see and do.  Your guide will be happy to assist you in any way should you care to take any additional excursions (local payment to guide).  You can visit the many places of interest, catch up on some emails and enjoy the cuisine in the many restaurants to be found.

Day 12. The Sacred Valley Tour - Peruvian Secrets Exclusive

Today you start your relaxed tour of the Sacred Valley taken in private with your guide; this tour is unique and extended only provided by Peruvian Secrets. On the way you will visit Sacsayhuaman, one of the best examples of Inca stonework.  From here we will travel to a variety of sites including Qenko, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machay, before arriving at the small village of Pisac a picturesque town which is the gateway to the Sacred Valley. Here you have an opportunity to viewing the many artisans work in the famous market before we transfer to the restaurant located to take lunch. After Lunch you will continue along the Sacred Valley and check into your comfortable hotel where you can refresh before we rejoin our vehicle to make our last tour to the Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo. Here you will have a guided tour with everything you see explained to you. Returning to your hotel you can relax and take your evening meal in the fine restaurant of this very comfortable and friendly hotel.

Day 13. Train to Aguas Calientes

This morning you will transfer to the train station. Here you will board the wonderful Train to Aguas Calientes which offers great panoramic views as you route takes you through the changing microclimates into the higher reaches of the Amazon, to the small yet lively town of Aguas Calientes. On arrival you will be met by your hotel representative and escorted to the Hotel. Here you will check in to your hotel and have a welcomed opportunity to relax in preparation for the following full day’s visit to Machu Picchu. As well as being the obvious starting point for any visit to Machu Picchu, the town is also famous for its hot springs, (agua = water, caliente = hot), just remember to pack your swimming costume!

Day 14. Machu Picchu & return to Cuzco

This is an ideal opportunity to take the first transport up to the ruined city of Machu Picchu giving you the chance to witness the spectacular sight of appearing like magic through the early morning cloud.  In order to maximise your enjoyment from your visit, Peruvian Secrets provides the services of a professional local guide who will reveal some of the mysteries that surround this fascinating place.  After your visit you return to Aguas Calientes where you will have time to take your evening meal before you collect your luggage and transfer to the train station to take the return train journey to Poroy.  Upon arrival you will again be met for your transfer back to Cuzco by road and check into your Hotel once again.  The evening is free to take in a restaurant and enjoy the Inca Capital.

Day 15. Flight back to Lima

You will have the morning to relax and prepare for your flight back to Lima before you are met and transferred to the airport where you will leave the Andes for your spectacular flight over the mountains to Lima. On arrival you will be met by your Peruvian Secrets Tour Controller and transferred to your hotel leaving the rest of the day free to relax or explore

Day 16. Depart Lima - flight back home

Today at the appropriate time you will be collect and transferred to the airport for your international flight home.  Your guide will bid you farewell and make sure you are checked in correctly before seeing you through to departure. Meals, breakfast.
